Hearts and Hands, a neighbor-helping-neighbor nonprofit group that provides volunteer support in underserved areas in Western New York, has moved its administrative offices to the Town Square for Aging, a one-stop center for organizations providing services to senior citizens.
The new location at 2710 North Forest Road, Suite 205, Getzville, is supplemented by satellite offices in Akron, Amherst, Clarence, and Wales.
The group, founded in 2003, matches volunteers with the needs of older, frail or physically challenged adults living in Akron, Newstead, Alden, Clarence, Holland, Marilla, Wales and the Tonawanda Indian Reservation. It is expanding its services to Lockport, Amherst and Boston. The volunteers help with transportation to appointments, home support, respite care and small home repair jobs, and in 2013 volunteers drove more than 108,000 miles to help others. .
The services are provided free of charge, with funding coming from private donations and public and private grants.
