Drivers will notice blue and yellow lights on the Peace Bridge on Saturday in honor of World Down Syndrome Day.
The Down Syndrome Parents Group of Western New York also will be active.
Among other things, families will participate in a “Random Acts of Kindness” campaign in which they do a kind act as part of the day’s activities, such as taking cookies to a fire station or checking in on an elderly neighbor.
The group also is asking members and supporters to wear brightly colored socks as a reminder of a condition in which an individual has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21 – perhaps three socks for three chromosomes, the group suggests.
Pictures of the random acts will be posted on social media with the hashtag #WDSD15.
