Albers joins Niagara alums with Gwinnett of the ECHL

The Gwinnett Gladiators have become the ECHL destination for Niagara hockey alums.

With the Purple Eagles' season complete, Niagara's Kevin Albers signed with the Gladiators. The ECHL team is affiliated with the AHL Portland Pirates and the NHL Phoenix Coyotes.

He joins two Niagara alums already on the roster -- C.J. Chartrain (2013) and Scott Arnold (2012).

Albers, a defenseman who was a four-year contributor and two-year captain, had three goals and 17 assists in 121 career games at Niagara. While at Niagara, the Purple Eagles advanced to three straight Atlantic Hockey semifinals, won the conference regular title and made the NCAA tournament with an at-large bid in 2013.
