10th Street Gang member sentenced in drug case

A 10th Street Gang member was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to 65 months in prison.

Charles Watkins, 33, had previously pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi said the defendant admitted being a member of the gang and selling marijuana, cocaine and crack cocaine on Buffalo’s West Side.

Watkins’ sentencing is the result of an investigation by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, State Police, Buffalo Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
