NORTH TONAWANDA – Auditions for the play “The Boys Next Door,” by Tom Griffin, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the Ghostlight Theatre, 170 Schenck St. No appointments are necessary.
Those auditioning will be asked to give a cold reading for the play, which tells the story of four mentally handicapped men who live in a group home, supervised by a burned-out social worker, who must leave them.
The play will be directed by L. Don Swartz and performances will be on May 7 –24.
Seven men and two women are needed, including four men who will play mentally handicapped men; two middle aged, including one African-American and two in their 20s.
One actress is required to play three smaller roles of various ages, and another is needed to play a mentally handicapped female in her 20s.
An actor in his 30s is needed to play the social worker; another to play one of the patients’ middle-aged, abusive father; and an another male to play three smaller roles.
