LOCKPORT – A section of a road in rural Niagara County, where a motorist reported her vehicle was taking on water, was closed Wednesday morning because of flooding.
Coomer Road in Newfane was closed between McClelland and Chestnut roads shortly after 6:30 a.m. The source of the flooding is believed to be an overflowing ditch, according to a dispatcher for the Sheriff’s Office.
At about 6 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report from a motorist who said her vehicle was filling with water. She was helped by a passerby, but further reports from the scene indicated water was flowing across the road and the pavement was icy.
