Bona to hold model United Nations conference

OLEAN – St. Bonaventure University will host a Model United Nations conference for area high school students Friday and Saturday.

More than 160 students from more than a dozen schools will participate in the event, which starts with opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. Friday. Closing ceremonies will begin at about 6 p.m. Saturday.

The event, which helps the students learn how the United Nations executes business, provides a hands-on experience where they can learn skills including negotiation, cooperation, compromise and organizing. Students will discuss and debate issues like drugs and crime, the status of women, international security and world health.

The event is sponsored by the university’s Model United Nations Club.
