Arden Farm tour ends with classy snack

Daniel Roelofs, an organic farmer who happens to be the great-grandson of Roycroft founder Elbert Hubbard, is inviting the public to check out his East Aurora farm on Wednesday.

Roelofs will show interested folks around Arden Farm, 1821 Billington Road, East Aurora, a certified organic farm where he grows vegetables and raises animals. It has a community supported agriculture program, whereby people can buy a subscription to vegetables harvested at the farm during the growing season.

The Roycroft Inn is increasing the amount of produce, herbs and microgreens and it buys from the farm this year. Roycroft Inn Chef Andrew Nuernberger will be on hand to present a few dishes based on Roelofs' work.

They should include:

Braised Napa cabbage with onion

Honey and mint glazed carrots

French onion soup with goat stock

Goat shepherd’s pie

Verbena tea

Microgreen salad with carrots, red onion, arugula and cress

The event is free, and goes from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
