Thief steals candy that was bought for City Mission

NIAGARA FALLS – A thief broke a van window and ran off with $40 worth of chocolate Easter eggs that had been purchased for the City Mission Easter egg hunt, according to a police report.

The victim told police that at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of 10th Street her van’s front window was shattered and a man was seen running off with a blue tote bag that contained the charity chocolate.

She said she had been taking a nap when her boyfriend woke her up and saying he saw someone stealing something from the van that had been parked in a back alley. Damage to the van was estimated at $150.

She said they chased the suspect and yelled for him to stop, but lost him on Ferry Avenue.
