Suspect held in assault and attempted robbery

A 33-year-old Niagara Street man was arrested Saturday for allegedly assaulting a woman during an argument on Lexington Avenue and then trying to rob a man at a Niagara Street fast-food restaurant a short time later.

Jeffrey R. Kosek was being held on charges of attempted robbery, assault and drug possession. He was arrested near a restaurant in the 300 block of Niagara Street after allegedly choking a male patron and trying to steal money from him.

The restaurant incident took place within an hour after Kosek allegedly assaulted a woman during an argument in the 200 block of Lexington Avenue.

In addition to attempted robbery in the third-degree, he was being held on criminal obstruction of breathing for allegedly choking the male victim and third-degree assault for allegedly slapping a woman and pushing her around an apartment on Lexington Avenue during an argument. He was also charged harassment, criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance outside its original container when some narcotic pills were found in his coat pocket after he was taken into custody.
