Two more Home Energy Assistance Program or HEAP workshops are scheduled for eligible residents in Erie County’s 1st legislative district.
The first workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday in the Community Action Organization Masten Resource Center, 1423 Fillmore Ave. A second workshop is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 25 in the Belle Center, 104 Maryland St.
This second round of HEAP benefits will be made available to all eligible households until the close of the HEAP season on March 27, 2015. Households that have received an emergency benefit this season, and have a current disconnect notice, are eligible for this additional benefit.
HEAP applicants are required to bring identification for all household members, including either a birth certificate, driver’s license or Social Security card. They also must bring proof of income that is dated within the last 30 days for all household members. These include either a pay stub, proof of child support, a Social Security or pension award letter, or documentation of rental income, unemployment benefits or worker’s compensation.
They also should bring their most recently received gas and electric bills, including current shut off or disconnect notices, if applicable.
HEAP is a federally funded program to help residents with their heating bills.
