Lancaster teaching kids it’s OK to ridicule others

I’m amazed that there is even a debate about changing the Lancaster School District’s nickname of Redskins. Are the people of that community serious? Schools are supposed to educate students, not continue a ritual of ridicule and discrimination.

If the nickname was Blackskins, Brownskins or Yellowskins, would those district residents just turn the other cheek? In 2015, do people still judge folks by the color of their skin? If not, why is defamation of truly the “First Americans” acceptable? This should be a no-brainier. Be respectful of other cultures and change the name! The only Redskins in Lancaster should be the residents’ faces in outrage and complete embarrassment.
