East Aurora man faces multiple drug charges after fleeing police

A 33-year-old East Aurora man was arrested on heroin-trafficking charges Thursday after attempting to flee from West Seneca police.

Peter T. Williams reportedly sped past a patrol car on Clinton Street, pulled into a private property in the 3000 block of the street and made an unsuccessful dash for a creek behind the property. Williams told officers he only tried to escape because he was driving with a suspended license and faces shoplifting charges in Aurora Town Court and a probation violation charge in Lackawanna in an earlier drug case.

In Williams car and on his path toward the creek, police reported finding 26 envelopes of alleged heroin and a quantity of hypodermic needles. He is being held on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of hypodermic instruments, resisting arrest, failing to exercise due care to avoid an emergency vehicle he nearly hit as he sped down Clinton, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and a license plate violation because the rear plate of his car was covered in dirt and mud and was unreadable. The vehicle was impounded.
