We've already had the longest game in Atlantic Hockey history in the 2015 playoffs. And that was just the first round. What will the quarterfinal series bring? Let the games begin.
The best-of-three quarterfinal round kicks off Friday with Niagara playing at Robert Morris and Canisius hosting Sacred Heart at HarborCenter. Campus Watch is your one-stop shop for what you need to know to stay informed on Niagara and Canisius in the postseason.
*Niagara finished last in the regular season, survived a triple-overtime loss and came on to upset No. 6 Holy Cross last week. The Purple Eagles play at defending champ and No. 1 seed Robert Morris.
*Second-seeded Canisius earned its highest finish ever but No. 2 can be a dubious position. The Griffs should know. They've knocked out the No. 2 seed the last two seasons in the quarterfinal round.
*Ralph Cuddemi and Shane Conacher have been the scoring punch for Canisius all season, but their chemistry is about more than numbers. Their passion for the game, and their mutual chirping, elevates their level of play.
*Canisius placed three players on the All-Atlantic Hockey teams, matching the program record for postseason honorees set in the 2009-10 season. Chris Rumble became the first First Team selection since Cory Conacher while Cuddemi and Keegan Asmundson were second team selections
