March 12, 1965: Downtown demolition should be celebrated, says The News

Fifty years ago this week, the editorial staff at The News urged Buffalonians to not let nostalgia get the better of them as downtown demolitions of "familiar landmarks and repositories” continued.

“Few real tears will be shed,” the opinion piece goes on, “as downtown Buffalo proceeds to rebuild and rejuvenate — to put on a bright new image after so many years of considerable stagnation and decline.”
