Drug impaired driver charged after he almost strikes a state police patrol car

NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls man found himself charged with driving under the influence of drugs after he passed a red light and nearly struck at New York state trooper on patrol on Wednesday at the intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard and Military Road.

Michael J. Minardi, 40, was disorientated and admitted he was using prescribed drugs. A trooper said he had a green arrow and started to turn at the intersection when Minardi ran the red light and almost struck him.

Minardi was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs/alcohol and passing a red light. He was issued an appearance ticket for March 25 in the Niagara Falls City Court.
