Cherry Creek man arrested for publicly firing a weapon for fun

MAYVILLE – A 60-year-old Cherry Creek man was arrested by State Police and briefly jailed Tuesday for allegedly firing a rifle on Vineyard Drive in the Town of Dunkirk, apparently just for the fun of it.

Williams Bishop was arrested after a businessman called 911 to report the incident. Bishop was charged with a felony count of reckless endangerment in the first-degree and after being arraigned in Dunkirk Town Court was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail here in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5000 property bail. Jail officials said Wednesday that bail was posted for Bishop, and he was released to await court proceedings.
