NIAGARA FALLS — A peace rally will take place at 5:45 p.m. Sunday outside a Highland Avenue nightclub that was the scene of a fatal shooting this weekend.
The homicide occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday at 3M’s Club, 2716 Highland, said police, who identified the victim as Franchot Wallace, 29, of Whitney Avenue.
Police said Wallace was shot twice in the back and was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, where he was declared dead. The club was hosting a private party at the time of the shooting, police said.
Pastor Duane Thomas of Praise Temple Church organized the rally at 3M’s Club to call attention to the continuing violence at the site, which has been the scene of numerous fights and assaults in recent years, he said. Pastors from area churches are also expected to attend the rally.
Meanwhile, police said they have no suspects in Wallace’s death. But Det. Lt. Michael Trane asks anyone who attended the party to contact the Niagara Falls Police Department at 286-4711 or the detectives’ office at 286-4553 “whether or not they believe they have any information about the shooting.”
