ECC falls a bit short in NJCAA bowling championship

Schenectady County Community College walked away with both the men’s and women’s team titles and won five of the six individual events in the National Junior College Athletic Association bowling championship.

The competition wrapped up on Saturday at AMF Airport Lanes.

Andrew Marotta led the Schenectady men, winning all-events (2,438), singles (661) and teaming with AJ Indovina to take the doubles with 1,270. Marotta shot 688 in doubles. Christopher McMillan of host Erie Community College was fourth in singles with a 638 series that included a 257 game.

Janelle Irwin of Schenectady won women’s all-events with 2,248 and singles with 650. Alexus Herbert and Natasha Evans of Corning CC won women’s doubles with 1,098.

Top women’s finisher for ECC was Lizzy Golubski, who was fourth in all-events with 547-479-513 for 2,175.

ECC was 10th in men’s team scoring and 13th in the women’s event, in which the Kats did not bowl the three Baker game blocks.
