The Niagara Purple Eagles have been itching for some good news this season.
They got some on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Keegan Harper was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie Team.
The defenseman from Ottawa scored 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in the regular season to lead Niagara freshmen and tie for eighth among defensemen in the conference. Harper collected his first collegiate point with an assist against St. Lawrence on Oct. 11. His first goal came in the Purps' first win, a 3-2 overtime victory at Bentley.
Also making the All-Rookie Team were:
Tyler Pham (Army) led all rookie forwards with 27 points, netting eight goals with 19 assists.
Jack Riley (Mercyhurst) netted eight goals and dished out 12 assists for 20 points i
Brady Ferguson (Robert Morris) tied for most goals among rookies with nine and had 23 points.
Brady Norrish (RIT) was a unanimous selection, leading rookie defensemen in scoring with 15 points (four goals, 11 assists).
Jayson Argue (Bentley) was also a unanimous selection. The goalie appeared in 17 games for the Falcons with a 1.95 goals against average and a .936 save percentage.
Players are nominated by coaches for the All-Rookie team and voted on by the other 10 coaches in the league.
