LOCKPORT – A Newfane man who sold the drug Suboxone last year passed up the judicial diversion program Thursday in favor of a regular felony plea.
Wade W. Pratt, 37, of West Creek Road, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and could go to prison for as long as 2 1/2 years when he is sentenced May 12 by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon. However, Sheldon said if Pratt stays clean, he will probably be placed on probation.
The drug deal with a police informant occurred Oct. 8 in Newfane. Pratt decided not to enter diversion because transportation issues made it impossible for him to get from Newfane to Lockport on short notice, as is occasionally demanded of participants ordered to take surprise drug tests.
