Falling ice ruptures natural gas line at Grand Island home

A large slab of ice that fell off a Grand Island roof ruptured a natural gas service line, Grand Island Fire Company officials reported Thursday.

The gas leak reported Wednesday at an East River Road home occurred when ice fell from the roof and ruptured the service line between the meter and building, said Fire Capt. Jon Cinelli. The meter was shut down and the utility company was called to the scene for emergency repairs.
