Winter inspires classroom art

As noted in my story running Thursday, a number of local teachers have found ways to turn our cold winter weather into the inspiration for classroom lesson plans. In some cases, however, it's the students who used our frigid winter as the inspiration for their writing and artwork.

Here are three great examples of artwork done by fifth graders at Buffalo's Southside Elementary School, submitted by art teacher Suzanne Vullo. Students were asked to paint an image from memory like the artist, Jacob Lawrence, using gouache paint on tagboard.

Dixith Subedi painted a picture of his dad parking at the garage with all the snow in the winter of 2015.
