More than 7,000 utility customers in the Southtowns were affected by a power outage Wednesday morning.
Equipment failure in a substation caused the outage, which was reported at 9:43 a.m., according to Rachel Buchanan, a local spokeswoman for New York State Electric & Gas. The outage affected customers in the Village and Town of Hamburg, as well as the Town of Orchard Park.
Power was fully restored by 12:01 p.m., the spokeswoman said.
During the outage, Hamburg firefighters reported that generators were being used to power some traffic signals.
