Letter: What specifically has Clinton accomplished?

What specifically has Clinton accomplished?

It occurred to me as I listened to a recent interview that I have never been told why people support Hillary Clinton for president. I’ve heard supporters to be sure, but they’ve not answered that question. I can think of a reason, and it’s valid. For half of America, no president has ever looked like them. When I try to put myself in their shoes, I think that might be enough for me to support Clinton. However, I’ve never had Clinton supporters tell me that was the only reason they supported her. They mention her impressive résumé of positions held, but they can’t talk about what she did in those positions. This is what I don’t understand.

Elizabeth Warren supporters have no trouble explaining why they support her. Their pride in her is laudable. I’m a Rand Paul supporter. I have no trouble telling you why I support him, and I don’t have to deride other candidates to do so. He is a leader among his peers in the Senate. He has gone across the aisle to work with Democrats from New York and New Jersey to craft meaningful legislation about big topics. Three times, in fact, he’s worked with our own fine Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand on issues ranging from sexual assault to child care. Paul put President Obama’s vicious drone policy in the public forum. The point is, he is succeeding in his job as a senator.

What are Clinton’s successes as both a senator and secretary of state? (I don’t consider getting elected a success.) I’m honestly, intellectually curious. As far as I can tell, she’s failed up. Only in the magical world of government can you do that.
