Icy roads cause school bus accidents during morning commute

A school bus struck by a vehicle Wednesday on Buffalo’s West Side was among several accidents reported during the icy morning commute.

That accident occurred at Grant and Bradley streets. A police department spokesman said a motorist apparently lost control of his sport utility vehicle, which slid into a snowbank and flipped over before hitting a school bus.

One minor injury was reported by a passenger in the SUV, the spokesman said. No further information was disclosed.

On the other side of Buffalo, another accident involving a school bus occurred in the area of Walden Avenue and Barthel Street. And two people reportedly were injured in an accident at Walden Avenue and Sycamore Street.

The police spokesman has failed to respond to requests for information on those accidents.

Elsewhere, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said no injuries were reported after a vehicle sideswiped a school bus on Route 219, near Genesee Road. That accident was reported at 7:37 a.m.
