Public Espresso is opening its first establishment Wednesday in Hotel @ the Lafayette.
The opening will bring Buffalo its first "third wave" coffee kiosk, offering custom-brewed coffee backed by an artisanal approach to coffee bean sourcing, roasting and production. It opens in the lobby of the hotel, at 391 Washington St., at 7 a.m. It's located in what was once the hotel's original reception desk.
"The menu at launch will consist of pour-over coffee, espresso and espresso based drinks, Chemex service and more," the company said in a statement. "Also featured is a “Coffee Flight” option, which takes one coffee bean, prepared three ways (i.e. pour-over, espresso, cortado)." Coffee will also be available by the pound.
The menu will also include hot chocolate and Breadhive bagels.
Public Espresso is also working on a Grant Street coffee shop and coffee roasting facility. "We're going to open the roastery later this spring, and then hopefully the cafe will follow a couple months after that," said owner Sam Scarcello.
