March 3, 1950: 'Freak mishap' with coffee scalds children

It’s not usually the sort of thing that makes the news these days — two children were scalded when a coffee pot fell apart and sent boiling coffee all over the children and the walls in a home on Chicago Street.

"The children of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Marsh, they are: Carol, 12; Charles R., 6, and Gertrude, 3. They were taken to Emergency Hospital."
