Team names aren’t chosen as a means to insult others

How sad that there are quite a few people in this world who have little else to do besides haranguing communities or schools to change their teams’ labels to something less offensive to “refined” and “educated” sensibilities.

Thousands of states, cities and schools at all levels in our country sponsor sports teams. For these teams, they pick names that are far from derisive and that regularly bring to mind admirable performance, strength, determination, loyalty, courage and honor.

Has any city or school with a name beginning with “L” chosen “Losers” for the team name? If beginning with “W,” would they even think of going with “Wimps”? Think about it.
