Jail ordered for man who violated probation in domestic violence case

LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda man who was placed on probation four years ago for punching his ex-girlfriend in the mouth was sentenced to a year in Niagara County Jail Tuesday for violating the terms of probation.

Travis A. Downey, 24, had pleaded guilty before Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon to a felony count of aggravated first-degree criminal contempt for the June 18, 2010, assault. The victim had obtained an order of protection against Downey.
