Brown’s Berry Patch, a U-Pick berry farm in Orleans County, will close its retail operations. Its wholesale operation, Orchard Dale Fruit Co., will stay in business.
The 300-acre family farm grows an assortment of berries, cherries, apples, peaches, quinces and pumpkins. It’s retail business started as a farm stand in 1984 and gradually expanded – first to a store, then to an agri-tourism destination where consumers could pick their own fruit, visit the farm’s petting zoo, take a hayride, play on the playground or jump up and down on the giant “Bouncy Pillow” attraction.
The retail side of the company had already closed for the season and will not reopen.
