Despite improving over her sophomore performance when she was a first-team selection, St. Bonaventure junior forward Katie Healy (Lancaster) was named to the second team when the All-Atlantic 10 Conference women’s basketball selections were announced Tuesday.
Entering the A-10 Tournament, Healy is averaging 14.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. The 6-1 forward has recorded 21 double-digit scoring games, including six games of 20 points or more, and she has four double-doubles. Healy leads the Bonnies in scoring, rebounding, blocks (34), assists (66), free throws (117) and minutes per game (29.8). She is second on the team in steals (32) and field goal percentage (44.1%).
She ranks 11th in the conference in scoring and 13th in rebounding.
Healy and the Bonnies (15-12, 5-9) will play Massachusetts in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 in the Richmond (Va.) Coliseum.
The St. Bonaventure men’s team (15-12, 8-8 A-10) will try to assure itself of at least a break-even season in the conference when it faces Saint Louis (11-18, 3-13) at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis (Radio 95.7 FM, 8 p.m.). The Bonnies will finish their regular season at home against Fordham on Saturday at 4 p.m.
The University at Buffalo women’s team (16-11, 9-7 MAC) will travel to Mid-American Conference opponent Bowling Green at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio (Radio 1520 AM, 8 p.m.). Bowling Green (9-18, 2-14 MAC) is on a nine-game losing streak. UB defeated the Falcons, 66-45 at Alumni Arena last month, ending a 20-game BG win streak in the all-timeseries between the schools.
