Sabres score by moving three pending unrestricted free agents

Goals are rare in Buffalo, but the Sabres scored Monday.

The team was eager to move as many pending unrestricted free agents as possible, and Chris Stewart and Torrey Mitchell have joined Michal Neuvirth as players changing teams.

Stewart is off to Minnesota for a 2017 second-round pick, according to TSN. The Sabres and Wild have made trades at three straight deadlines. Jason Pominville was the focus of a 2013 deal, while Matt Moulson went to the Wild last season.

The Sabres have traded Torrey Mitchell to Montreal, according to various reports. The return to Buffalo is unclear. The Canadiens acquired Brian Flynn earlier in the day.

The trades are subject to NHL approval, which was still pending.
