Erie County Legislator Ted B. Morton’s condition continues to improve and he is now out of the intensive care unit, according to a statement released Monday by the Legislature’s majority caucus.
Morton, a Republican from Depew, was admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital on Feb. 18 after falling ill at his home. Morton, 55, was transferred the following day to Sisters Hospital, where he was treated for a seizure.
“I’m now moving to a rehabilitation facility for continued care and physical therapy,” Morton said in a statement released by his family to the Legislature.
“I look forward to seeing everyone once I’m fully recovered. I also want to thank all the staff at Sisters and St. Joseph’s hospitals for everything they did,” Morton added.
He also thanked well-wishers for their thoughts and prayers over the last two weeks.
Morton, who is in the second year of his first two-year term in office, announced in January that he plans to run for re-election to a second term.
