Another deadline day, another new organization for Cory Conacher.
The former standout at Canisius College was traded to the Vancouver Canucks from the New York Islanders. Conacher will report to the Utica Comets of the AHL.
It’s the fifth NHL organization for Conacher, who has played in Tampa Bay, Ottawa, Buffalo and New York. He has spent the majority of the season in the AHL with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers with 22 points in 25 games.
Conacher joins a Utica team that is in first place in the Western Conference North Division and should challenge for the Calder Cup this year.
“The plan is for me to start in Utica and be a depth guy for the Canucks,” Conacher said on TSN Radio Vancouver. “I’m excited to be on a team like Utica.”
While at Canisius he set program records with 62 career goals and 147 points.
