Coming attractions

• In boys hockey, the quest to crown playoff champions concludes Monday at First Niagara Center with the Super Monday tripleheader. The Niagara Cup to determine the Federation’s private school playoff champion between Canisius and two-time defending champion St. Joe’s begins at 4 p.m. The two Section VI public schools championship games follow with the Division I Large Schools final slated for 6:15 p.m. and the Division II final for 8:30 p.m. In the Division I final, three-time defending champion Niagara-Wheatfield takes on Williamsville North, which is appearing in a championship game for the eighth time in nine years. The Division II final features defending champion Williamsville East facing last year’s runner-up Kenmore East. Winners advance to their respective state tournaments, which begin Saturday.

• In boys basketball, it’s championship week as the action shifts to Buffalo State Sports Arena and Jamestown Community College for semifinal and championship games. Monday features the Class A-1 semifinals starting at 6 p.m. at Buffalo State. A tripleheader featuring Class C-1 semifinal games and one Class D semifinal starts at 5:15 p.m. at Jamestown CC. Buffalo State and Jamestown CC both host tripleheaders Tuesday starting at 5:15 with Buff State hosting two Class B-2 games and a Class AA semifinal featuring Jamestown against Lancaster. On Wednesday, the Class B-1 semifinals and AA semifinal pitting Williamsville North against Niagara Falls highlights Buffalo State’s schedule. Class A-2 semifinals highlight Thursday’s action at Buffalo State.

Also on Wednesday, the Manhattan Cup finals for Class A and B take place at Canisius College’s Koessler Center with Park facing St. Mary’s in Class B at 7 p.m. The Class A final between defending champion Nichols and regular-season champion Canisius follows at 8:45 p.m.

Championship games for Section VI in Classes C-1, C-2 and D highlight Friday’s action at Jamestown CC. Saturday, five title games are on tap for Buffalo State beginning at noon with Class B-2 and concluding at 8:15 p.m. with Class AA.

• In girls basketball, the Section VI Tournament resumes Tuesday with quarterfinal action in Class AA and semifinals in Class A-1. Semifinals are also scheduled in other classes Wednesday through Friday. Championships games begin a tripleheader Saturday at Jamestown CC that begins at 4 p.m. with the Class D final. Classes C-1 and C-2 follow at 6 and 8 p.m. On Sunday, Buffalo State Sports Arena hosts Section VI finals in Classes A-1, A-2, B-1 and B-2. All champions in the A and B classifications return to Buffalo State on March 11 to participate in their respective state qualifiers. The Class AA final closes the March 11 tripleheader that begins at 5 p.m. with the overall Class B final. The overall Class C final is Tuesday night at Jamestown CC.

The Monsignor Martin Association Class B and Class A finals are this Saturday at Niagara University’s Gallagher Center and feature a strong lineup that includes Mount St. Mary, Nichols, Mount Mercy and defending Class A state Federation champion O’Hara.

• The state indoor track and field championships are Saturday at Cornell.

• In boys and girls bowling, the two-day state tournament begins Saturday in Syracuse.
