Victim of Winspear Avenue hit-and-run remains in critical condition

A man remained in critical condition Saturday night after being struck by a hit-and-run driver as he walked on Winspear Avenue near Bailey Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Friday, police said.

The driver was later located and is cooperating with authorities, said Buffalo Police spokesman Michael DeGeorge. But the driver has not yet been charged, and police are identifying her only as a 21-year-old from Rochester. Officers have impounded her 2010 Nissan.

Police are awaiting toxicology results, as part of their investigation. The victim, a 22-year-old man, was taken to Erie County Medical Center.
