Silver Creek mayor among residents with frozen pipes, no water

SILVER CREEK – Mayor Nick Piccolo is among Silver Creek residents without water as the deep freeze continues to play havoc on water lines.

The mayor said he woke up to no water on Friday and still was dealing with the problem throughout the day.

In the meantime, the Chautauqua County Emergency Management Department is urging village residents to leave at least a trickle of water running at the tap.

Piccolo, who said the issue is not isolated to one neighborhood but scattered throughout the village, estimates that at least six homes had no water on Friday, when the village’s water department restored water to eight homes on Oak and Lafayette streets that had no access since Sunday.

Most village water lines have been replaced in the last 10 years, the mayor said.
