One person dead in overdoses linked to heroin in pink packages

JAMESTOWN - Jamestown Police said three people suffered overdoses – one of them fatal – believed to be related to heroin that was sold in pink plastic packages.

The overdoses related to the heroin were in Lakewood and Falconer, according to a report issued Friday. Police said the heroin may be overly potent or may be tainted with another substance. Further tests are on going.

Jamestown Police are asking that anyone with an original package of the heroin call police and provide information to help prevent further injuries from the drug. Calls will be kept confidential. The phone number is (716) 483-TIPS.

Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace agreed with the warning and said that there have been issues with tainted heroin. He added that the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is also investigating the reported incidents.
