Former Falls man, extradited from California, pleads guilty to assault

LOCKPORT – Shadeed S. Turner, 31, of Oakland, Calif., pleaded guilty in Niagara County Court Friday to assaulting a woman in the Falls July 8, 2013.

Turner, who is living with his brother on 22nd Street in Niagara Falls until the case is resolved, could be sentenced to as long as a year in jail for third-degree assault. County Judge Sara Sheldon will make the call May 8.

Deputy District Attorney Doreen M. Hoffmann said the sentence will include $1,200 in restitution to the District Attorney’s Office for half the cost of extraditing Turner from California last year. Sheldon let Turner out of jail Jan. 27 on the condition that he live with his brother.
