LOCKPORT – Darrell J. Belton Jr., a Niagara Falls man under indictment for murder, was arraigned on an unrelated drug indictment Friday in State Supreme Court.
Belton, 18, of Whitney Avenue, pleaded not guilty to third- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Wydysh said Belton was arrested in a Sept. 12 traffic stop when Falls police allegedly found a little more than a gram of crack cocaine.
Eleven days later, Belton allegedly shot and killed William A. Reilly, 30, in the victim’s home on Pierce Avenue in the Falls after an argument. Police said Reilly was shot twice in the upper body. Belton is being held without bail.
