Women’s History Month will be marked at the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library downtown Thursday with awards and a presentation by the head of the Women’s Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls, N.Y.
More than two dozen non-profit organizations providing activities and services for women will offer displays and free resource materials from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
The kickoff ceremony at noon will feature performances by Buffalo Seminary’s Semachords vocal group and Teen Reality Theatre of Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York, remarks by local dignitaries and the unveiling of the 2015 Women’s History Month calendar. The calendar, with programs and networking opportunities across Erie County throughout March, will be available at all county public buildings and all 37 public libraries.
The second annual “women of character, courage and commitment” awards will be presented, and keynote speaker Noemi “Ami” Ghazala, superintendent of the National Park Service’s Women’s Rights National Historical Park, will be the keynote speaker.
