The Concord Town Board appointed Al Pirro as a part-time code enforcement officer during a special meeting Friday.
Rick Atkinson, code enforcement officer, is considering retirement, said Supervisor Gary Eppolito.
Pirro, a retired home inspector, will earn 80 percent of the position’s wages for the six-month probationary period while he works under Atkinson’s supervision. Both of the part-time positions pay $19,000 per year.
If Atkinson retires, Pirro will probably replace him and no one else will be hired in the department, Eppolito said.
Two board members interviewed five or six candidates for the position, he added.
