Canisius plays one final home game before engaging in the fun part of its season: March Madness.
The Golden Griffins men close the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season Friday against Fairfield at the Koessler Athletic Center (7 p.m., Radio 1230 AM, 102.9 FM).
They will be trying to win for the fourth time in five games, however Canisius (15-13, 10-9) is also trying to rebound from Tuesday night’s loss to rival Niagara at Koessler.
The game will be Canisius’ senior night as Jeremiah Williams and Josiah Heath will be honored prior to tipoff. Heath is Canisius’ all-time leader in games played (126). Williams is averaging 15 points per game over his past five contests.
Fairfield (7-21, 5-13) snapped a 10-game losing streak with last Saturday’s win over Saint Peter’s.
The MAAC Tournament begins next Thursday in Albany.
In women’s basketball, Canisius closes the regular season at Siena in Albany.
The Griffs (10-18, 8-11) look to end the regular season on a winning note and increase their winning streak to three games.
Siena beat Canisius at Koessler by a point earlier this season.
Leading the charge for Griffs has been Kayla Hoohuli (13.1 ppg) and Tihanna Mills (10.7).
Siena (16-11, 9-9) is led in scoring by Margot Hetzke (14.1 ppg) and Teresa Coles (13.5).
