Garden Notes: News of area clubs and events

The Niagara Frontier Orchid Society’s Winter Orchid Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave. (buffalogardens.com) The show will feature orchid displays, growing demonstrations and vendors and is included with admission to the Gardens. Orders are due Wednesday for the Easter Floral Sale at the Niagara Floral Center and Greenhouse at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara. Visit www.oppunlimited.org to order securely online or call 504-2617, Ext. 244. Pick-up is March 20 in Lockport or March 20-21 in Wheatfield. Options include lilies, tropical houseplant baskets and fresh-flower baskets. All sales and events benefit people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who participate in the horticulture program at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara.

Willow Ridge Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Zion United Church of Christ, Parker Boulevard and Koenig Circle, Town of Tonawanda. New officers will present the agenda for 2015 with preliminary plans for guest speakers, workshops and field excursions. New chairpersons will be selected and club records will be transferred to all committees who will start working on plans for the new year.

Orchard Park Garden Club will meet Thursday in Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 S. Buffalo St. Sign-ups at 11:30 a.m.; refreshments at noon, followed by the program, “What you always wanted to know about the structure, programs and projects of the Orchard Park Garden Club.” A business meeting will follow.

Williamsville Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bassett Manor, 245 Bassett Road, Amherst. Club members will help residents design Irish-theme wreaths followed by a sing-along and party.
