The Eden School Board appointed a senior clerk-typist during a special meeting Wednesday night.
Board members named Nancy Bryant to the position. She will start March 9 in the junior-senior high school’s office.
Superintendent Sandra Anzalone explained that the board had to conduct a special meeting because state civil service law requires the position to be filled within 60 days after a district official requests the eligibility list.
In another matter, the board scheduled a dedication ceremony for Bob Burnside, a retired mathematics teacher and varsity baseball coach, for May 15 at the baseball field.
Eric Cooper, varsity baseball coach and high school chemistry teacher, Rodney Palmerton and Gordon Karstedt will conduct the ceremony to recognize Burnside, who has remained involved as a volunteer assistant coach.
Anzalone added that they contacted the board about the dedication shortly before the special meeting, which allowed enough time to add it to the agenda.
Board members also approved a contract for Mary Lobosco, treasurer, retroactive to July 1. The contract will expire June 30, 2018.
