Even when the Sabres win, they lose.
As Mike Harrington reports, first-line forwards Zemgus Girgensons and Tyler Ennis left Tuesday's 4-2 victory over Columbus with injuries. Girgensons hurt his foot blocking a shot while Ennis suffered a lower-body injury.
Ennis may miss only a few days, but Girgensons' season could be over.
"We’re concerned for sure,” Nolan said. “We’ll cross our fingers and hope things work out.”
The Sabres, who are in the midst of seven games in 12 days, are taking Wednesday off. It's possible updates from further examination of the injuries may not come until Thursday.
“It’s tough, no doubt,” said Cody Hodgson, who opened the scoring with his first goal since Dec. 13. “Zemgus has been a big part of our team all year and it was tough to see him go down, both him and Tyler.”
