Front page Feb. 25, 1915: More island intrigue, improvement at cattle yards

User error 100 years ago makes reading the day's front page more challenging.

Among the top local stories still legible:

"Fearing inquiry into island deal politician tries to unload stock"

"The attempt by the Sullivan crew in the Board of Aldermen to head off an investigation of the abandoned island deal and continue to keep secret the identity of the little clique of powerful politicians and office holders who got possession of the islands for the purpose of exploiting them at public expense, is certain to prove abortive."

"Cattle situation at yards much improved"

"The cattle situation at the stock yards is improving daily. No shipments can enter New York state except from non-infected territories and only on the condition that the cars have been cleaned and disinfected and a certificate issued by a veterinary surgeon at the point of shipment."
