Jail sentence for man who stole energy drinks, lottery tickets

Six months in jail was the sentence for a man who stole cases of energy drinks from a Cheektowaga convenience store during a span of several months, town police announced.

Clifford Southern II, 35, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty last Friday to two counts of petit larceny related to thefts from the 7-Eleven store at Kensington Avenue and Century Road. He was sentenced by Cheektowaga Town Justice Paul Piotrowski.

Southern was arrested Feb. 11 by Detective Eric Broska on multiple charges of petit larceny. He was accused of stealing 77 cans of one brand of energy drinks and more than six cases of another on seven occasions between last October and January. He also stole 23 scratch-off lottery tickets on another occasion, police said.
