Mary Krestos, a longtime member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, died Saturday in Delaware Nursing and Rehab. She was 88.
Born in Kane, Pa., the former Mary Voulgaris moved to Buffalo in her junior year of high school and graduated from Fosdick-Masten Park High School. She went on to graduate from Bryant and Stratton Secretarial Night School.
An Amherst resident, Mrs. Krestos retired from Adam, Meldrum & Anderson Co. and Bon-Ton as a sales clerk in November 1991.
A longtime member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, she taught Greek school and Sunday school. She was also a member of the church choir, Women’s Philoptochos Committee, Daughters of Penelope, church senior group and Siatista Association.
Mrs. Krestos celebrated 60 years of marriage with her late husband, Michael A. Krestos, in 2006. He died that year.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas M., Nicholas and Dean; a daughter, Sophia Salonikis; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 146 W. Utica St., following a Trisagion service at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Amigone Funeral Home, 1132 Delaware Ave.
